The Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM) in Pune has been chosen as a Training Partner for the Acharya Chanakya Kaushalya Vikas Kendra (ACKVK) under the Pramod Mahajan Kaushalya Uddyojagta Vikas Abhiyan, part of the Maharashtra State Skill Mission. This initiative aims to enhance the skills of cooperative stakeholders, fostering business diversification and employment generation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Acharya Chanakya Skill Development’ scheme, with a virtual broadcast from Pune. VAMNICOM participated in the program online, emphasizing its commitment to skill development.
For the 2024-25 financial year, the Maharashtra State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) has opened applications for establishing ACKVKs to equip youth and relevant stakeholders in agriculture, industry, and services with the necessary skills for employment and entrepreneurship. VAMNICOM will focus on training in areas such as Input development (Qaulity Seed grower) & Technology management (Kisan Drone Operator) for the financial year 2024-25.
This initiative aims to promote business diversification and generate employment within the cooperative ecosystem, aligning with the Ministry of Cooperation’s new initiatives and schemes. The training at ACKVK is expected to foster a more skilled workforce within the cooperative sector, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing among members. As a result, cooperatives will be better equipped to address community needs and challenges.
The emphasis on skill development through partnerships like VAMNICOM’s represents a critical step toward unlocking the potential of cooperatives in India. As these programs unfold, they promise to boost business diversification and create employment opportunities, significantly contributing to the socio-economic development of the nation.
Cooperatives have historically played a vital role in empowering marginalized communities and facilitating rural development by providing equitable market access and promoting collective decision-making. With the growing demand for skilled labor, continuous skill enhancement within these organizations is crucial.
Skill development initiatives in cooperatives can increase employability, stimulate entrepreneurship, and enhance social cohesion. Tailored training programs will equip members with essential skills in modern agricultural practices, digital marketing, and quality control.
The Government of Maharashtra’s commitment to establishing ACKVKs under the Skill Development Mission complements these efforts, aiming to create a resilient workforce capable of adapting to changing market demands.
As cooperatives and skill development initiatives collaborate, they hold the potential to uplift communities, strengthen economic stability, and create a brighter future for millions across Maharashtra and beyond. The inauguration of ACKVK marks a significant milestone in this journey, signaling a new era of employment generation in India.
